Host-Pool Plugin
The Host-Pool plugin is an infrastrcture-provisioning plugin that is used in conjunction with the Studio Conductor Host-Pool Service to use hosts from a pool of existing hosts. When the plugin is requested to provision a host, it makes a request to the host-pool service which, in turn, looks for available matching hosts inside the pool, and assigns one to that request.
The same flow is executed when the plugin is requested to release that host. The pool of available hosts is determined at the time of the host-pool service installation, as explained in this topic.

Host-Pool Plugin
cloudify.hostpool.nodes.Host
The base type for a pool host.
Derived From: cloudify.nodes.Compute
Properties:

- The operating system, such as Linux, BSD, Windows, and so on.filters

- Installs the agent.cloudify.interfaces.worker_installer.start

Note that you must provide the service_url
of the host pool service as an input to the lifecycle operations.

Host-Pool Service
The Host-Pool service is a Web service that is designed to manage a large pool of hosts for use by Studio Conductor deployments. It enables the use of multiple existing hosts to be allocated for a deployment. It supports defining hosts by:

- name
- endpoint (IP)
- additional filters
The Host-Pool plugin makes calls to this service every time that a new host must to be provisioned/terminated.
To simplify the installation of this service, it is provided as a regular Studio Conductor node type.
cloudify.nodes.HostPoolService

Properties:
pool
- The relative path to a pool configuration file. This is where you define the hosts you want to “seed” the pool with.port
- The port to run the service on. Defaults to8080
.debug
- Enables service debug logging.gunicorn_debug
- Enables gunicorn debug logging.source
- The source code of the service. Defaults to latest version.working_directory
The directory to run the service from inside the host.run_as_daemon
- Enables the service to run as a SysV daemon.

- The initial configuration of the host pool.working_directory
- The final working directory of the service.endpoint
- The URL of the service. The URL is determined by combining theport
property of the type, with the IP address of the host that the service is contained within. The IP address is either theip
attribute of the containing host node, or, in the case that it is absent, theip
property of the node. This endpoint is similar to the cloud endpoints withj which you are probably familiar.service name
- The service name. Defaults tocloudify-hostpool
